Plan Optik AG, a sophisticated glass, quartz and silicon processor, existing since 1962 and based in Germany, is focusing on MEMS and semiconductor related products (mainly wafers used for wafer level packaging of MEMS and carriers used for temporary bonding of device wafers). The quality of Plan Optik’s wafers sets the standard in the industry since many years.
This success is driven by the development of own manufacturing methods e.g. for the polishing of glass wafers. So called MDF (micro damaging free) polished wafers show an impressive surface quality (no sub surface damaging) and are suitable for safety relevant devices such as tyre pressure sensors. No sub-surface-damaging means a dramatically increased yield during etching processes. Additionally the surface roughness is much below 5 Ångstrom (0.5 nm) - this makes them suitable for direct bonding.
The chips manufactured based on Plan Optik’s wafers are implemented in more than 100 million sensors and micro fluidic systems per year.
Plan Optik’s structured wafers are used in active components of micro fluidic and lab-on-chip devices. This includes Nano-Dispensing-Systems and Nano-Vaporizers for medicament administration.

The MiQro Innovation Collaborative Center (C2MI) is an international reference in the fields of advanced packaging and microsystems. The C2MI is a Centre of excellence for commercialization and research (CECR) whose role is to help produce market-driven prototypes in the fields of applications of the information and communication technologies, automobile, aerospace as well as environment and health to accelerate their commercialization. More specifically, the C2MI strives to create an ideal environment in 200mm-based microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and 3D wafer level packaging (WLP) as well as advanced technologies associated with the assembly and packaging of silicon chips in addition to embedded systems.
Expertech - Established in 1992, Expertech’s core competency is newly manufactured thermal processing systems with over 50 systems in the field that were designed and fully manufactured by Expertech. In addition, Expertech has an established reputation as a supplier of over 500 remanufactured and refurbished systems originally built by other suppliers. We provide field service, repair parts and upgrades for a wide range of thermal systems manufactured by Expertech and other OEM suppliers.
Originally Expertech mainly supported thermal process applications for the semiconductor industry. Since 1995, Expertech has been adapting systems and making custom designed products to meet needs of the MEMS, photovoltaics, sensors, and optical coatings industries.
