The MEMS and Sensor Supply Chain and its Role in Solving Some of the Challenges Facing mHealth Today

Session #M230N2
Date/VenueMonday, 12/08/2014 2:30PM - 3:30PM , Room National Harbor 2-3
Description MEMS and sensors are at the heart of today’s mobile healthcare revolution. They are literally the first point of contact with users to gather their ECG, blood pressure, glucose level and more. Their form factors, performance and power requirements are dramatically shifting to accommodate inclusion in smart everything—from smart phones, to smart watches, jewelry, tattoos and clothing—to monitor multiple health and wellness conditions. This panel, produced and moderated by MEMS Industry Group (the trade association advancing MEMS and sensors globally) will provide an overview of the MEMS and sensor ecosystem to highlight where sensors and biosensors are heading today and tomorrow, with specific focus on the healthcare opportunities. Each panelist will highlight the top three challenges they see in their particular domain and where MEMS and sensors can help address some of the challenges facing the industry today. This panel will go beyond providing an observation of the issues but instead, recommend what they believe needs to be done in order to get the various stakeholders behind solving them.
