Pre-Conference Symposium Details
Organized and hosted by the MEMS Industry Group (MIG), a trade association focused on advancing MEMS and sensors across global markets, this one-day pre-conference symposium will discuss the benefits of smart sensor fusion.
Smart sensor fusion has the ability to turn data from several sensors into information for the purpose of improving application or system performance, thereby creating a “smart system.” With these attractive benefits that include the ability to meet or exceed power, performance, and cost requirements in heterogeneous embedded systems—from smart toaster ovens to smart watches —sensor fusion is playing a leading role in a growing number of applications and industries.
MEMS and sensor technology have enable great advances in automotive technology by enabling features such as airbags and stability control over the last decades, and helped lead the successful use of accelerometers and gyroscopes in both the Nintendo Wii and Apple iPhone. In the past few years, advanced renditions of these traditional stalwarts, coupled with the growing use of acoustic MEMS, combo sensors, sensor fusion techniques and emerging MEMS devices, have the MEMS industry primed to grow from an estimated $13B in 2014, to $24B by 2019 (according to Yole Développement market forecast as of 4/2014).
In this valuable pre-conference symposium, you will get a detailed insight into the MEMS and sensors industry’s unique perspective on what sensor fusion is, how it applies to different markets and applications as well as the challenges and opportunities for success, both today and into the future. Presentations and panelists will discuss several applications utilizing sensor fusion including sports/fitness and health/wellness as well as automotive, industrial and environmental. Discussions will touch upon how these applications are feeding into and enabling not only smart systems but also a smart Internet of Things (IoT).
This pre-conference will also cover topics including low power/battery life, small form factors, flexible electronics, and new MEMS/sensors needed to enable smart systems. MIG will also update attendees on its work advancing MEMS/sensors standardization as well as its Accelerated Innovation Community (AIC) - the first-ever open-source algorithm library for sensor fusion.
This pre-conference symposium will educate attendees on the numerous opportunities enabled by sensor fusion and integration to form smart systems. Attend this pre-conference symposium to learn how to apply MEMS and sensors to grow your business.
