MSIG Pre-Conference Symposia

How to Plug In and Extract Value from the MEMS & Sensors Supply Chain

Cisco predicts that we are on track to hit 25 to 50 billion connected devices by 2020. Morgan Stanley expects 75 billion. To arrive at even the most conservative of these estimates, we need end-to-end solutions with smart MEMS and sensors that are interoperable and standardized, use low power, and are secure. MEMS and sensor technologies have enabled great advances in many applications, initially with pressure sensors in medical and automotive applications and now with a combo accelerometer-gyro-magnetometer in the wearable you likely have on your wrist; and the list goes on and on of thousands of other MEMS/sensors-enabled products.  Clearly, MEMS and sensors are the pathway and the bedrock of getting to a smart and inter-connected world.

Organized and hosted by MEMS & Sensors Industry Group, the trade association focused on advancing MEMS and sensors across global markets, this one-day pre-conference symposium will examine how to extract value from the MEMS and sensors supply chain. As the commoditization of MEMS and sensors has become ever more present, companies are positioning themselves as both hardware and software providers, whereby they are not just selling chips, but also the algorithms and sensor fusion to simplify system integration, maximize value, and remain competitive.

In this symposium, you will gain a clear understanding of the MEMS and sensors industry’s unique perspectives on the current landscape and detailed insight into new and emerging applications. This session will also provide a close look at the challenges and opportunities for success, with presentations and panelists discussing applications utilizing MEMS and sensors in the consumer, agriculture, health/wellness, automotive, industrial, and environmental fields.

Discussions will touch upon how these applications are feeding into and enabling not only smart systems but also a smart Internet of Things (IoT).  In addition, the symposium will cover the factors driving and enabling adoption and integration of MEMS and sensors, including improved battery life, smaller form factors, flexible printed electronics, and other recent innovations in MEMS/sensors. Presenters will discuss issues related to integration of MEMS and sensors such as testing, packaging, and other back-end issues that can influence production and time-to-market

This symposium will educate attendees on the numerous opportunities enabled by MEMS and sensors. Attend this informative event to learn how to apply MEMS and sensors to grow your business.
