The proliferation of sensors in mobile wireless and mobile-influenced products creates significant design challenges. Designers are faced with digital interface fragmentation that includes I2C, SPI, and UART, among others. In addition to the digital interface, other signals may be needed such as dedicated interrupts, chip select signals, and enable and sleep signals. This results both in an increasing number of required host GPIOs and thus increased system cost. As time passes and the number of sensors increases, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult to support and manage. 

The MIPI® Alliance, through its Sensor Working Group, has worked with leading SOC vendors, Sensor Vendors and IP providers to ease sensor system design architectures in mobile products by developing the
MIPI I3C SenseWire interface. MIPI I3C SenseWire is a fast, low cost, low power and I2C-compatible two-wire digital interface designed specifically for sensors. It is anticipated that this new sensor interface will have broad market adoption within the mobile ecosystem and beyond. 

This joint MSIG/MIPI webinar builds upon the prior September 2014 presentation by detailing MIPI I3C SenseWire’s value proposition, features and functionality, and allowing ample time for needed questions to be addressed by the Sensor WG’s leaders and key MIPI I3C SenseWire technical contributors.
