Wearables are expected to continue their rapid growth over the next few years, but the lack of accuracy in many of these devices threatens to substantially hinder that growth because if users can’t count on the accuracy of the data produced by these devices, they are not likely to use them for long. The topic of accuracy in wearables is getting quite a bit of attention these days (2 examples: 1. Fitbit consumer class action lawsuit and, 2. Recent Android Wear proposed standards for accuracy in optical heart rate monitoring). There is a misperception throughout the wearables supply chain that biometric monitoring is simply a matter of adding an optical heart rate sensor to the BOM and you are done. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy, particularly to do it accurately. For consumers the primary value in biometric wearables is the data and guidance/recommendations that the data can drive, but this has implications all the way up and down the supply chain.

This webinar will discuss accuracy in biometric wearables – why accuracy matters, who it matters to, and how to accomplish accuracy at scale – technically how it works, but also the keys to success related to supply chain, testing & validation, and user experience.
