MEMS: Making Micro Machines

MEMS: Making Micro Machines is a brand new addition to the popular Silicon Run series of films by Ruth Carranza.

The goal of the film, MEMS: Making Micro Machines, is to provide a general overview of MEMS devices and how they are made. The primary audiences are two, the undergraduate students that will soon become part of the workforce, and new industrial employees that need to be trained or exposed to MEMS manufacturing. For both educators and industrial trainers, the video provides a window into prominent MEMS facilities, which are not traditionally accessible to the public.

The students get to see close-ups of the equipment and processes required for manufacturing and get a true-to-life sense of potential careers. MEMS industrial employees get to see an overall picture of manufacturing, which goes beyond their specific role within the company.

The usefulness of the video will also apply to the wide variety of commercial vendors that supply specific tools, materials, and services to the MEMS industry.
