  • Date: May 14, 2009
  • Location: Wyndham Hotel, San Jose
  • Keynote: Dr. Beth Pruitt, professor of Mechanical Engineering, Stanford University, A Look at MEMS for Biology and Medicine
  • Registration online: https://meptec.org/meptec7thannuala.html

According to MEPTEC, companies such as Apple and Oracle that were founded during a recession achieved growth through launching innovative products.  The MEMS Symposium will explore new enabling technologies and applications that will take advantage of MEMS as a launchpad for similar innovation and economic growth.

Tying in to the theme addressed at METRIC 2009 -- growth opportunities for MEMS in a changing economy -- Tina Lamers of Axept will deliver some of the key findings of METRIC on behalf of MIG.

The MEMS Symposium will feature numerous paper sessions, including some from MIG members:

  • New MEMS Foundry Paradigm: Unique MEMS Components and Materials for Unique Customers - Ariel Cao, Director, Business Development, Tronics
  • Self Contained Pedestrian Navigation Using Inertial Sensors - Scott Smyser, VP & GM, VTI Technologies
  • Intelligent Medicine: MEMS Innovations Applied to Medical Therapies - Jeremy Frank, Ph.D., MEMS Manager, Proteus Biomedical
