Jeff Hilbert, President & Founder, WiSpry

Jeff Hilbert is founder of the company, bringing over 35 years of executive management and technical experience in a number of leading semiconductor and MEMS companies including LSI Logic, Compass Design Automation, AMCC, Motorola, Harris and Coventor. Hilbert holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Florida and master of science in computer science from Florida Institute of Technology.

Frank Melzer, Ph.D., General Manager and CEO of Bosch Sensortec

Since the foundation of Bosch Sensortec in early 2005 he is the General Manager and CEO. Prior to joining Bosch Sensortec, Frank Melzer held various engineering and managerial positions at Robert Bosch in Germany and Spain.

Mr. Melzer received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 1994 and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management
at the University of Toronto in 2003.

Seyed Paransun, Vice President and General Manager, Sensor and Actuator Solutions Division, Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.

Since May 2011, Seyed Paransun is the Vice President and General Manager of the Sensor and Actuator Solutions Division for Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.  He came to Freescale with more than 25-year experience within the semiconductor and electronics industries.  Throughout those years, he gained deep knowledge of critical market drivers and key players in each segment.  

Prior to Freescale, Seyed was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Test Business Unit at Amkor Technology.  In this leadership role, he oversaw three technology development centers in the U.S. and Asia.  He was also responsible for technical marketing, sales, supplier management, development, and the aggregate P&L of seven facilities globally.  Among his notable accomplishments at Amkor was the development and implementation of a cost-reduction strategy, which resulted in a substantial revenue and profit growth for the company. 

Seyed’s successful career includes a16-year tenure with National Semiconductor, where he held several leadership positions.

Seyed holds a Master of Business Administration degree from San Jose University, as well as a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.  His work has been featured in Electronics Letters and Test & Measurement World Magazine.

Scott Smyser, Vice President & General Manager North America & Co-Founder Timing Devices, VTI Technologies, Inc.

Scott Smyser manages the North American operations for VTI Technologies, a leading supplier of MEMS sensors to the automotive, medical, and consumer markets.  Scott is also a Co-Founder of VTI’s timing device business, which is commercializing MEMS resonator and oscillator technology.

Most recently, Scott was a strategy consultant for companies in the semiconductor and electronic component industry, with a focus on companies in the wireless semiconductor and timing device markets.  He advised companies in the industry on market, technology, and product direction.  His consulting included working with startups developing business strategies, and working with venture capitalists on due diligence.  Scott served as an advisor to a MEMS resonator startup, SiTime.

Prior to this, Scott served as a Director and Principal Analyst for iSuppli, a leading market research and consulting firm for the electronics industry, focusing on semiconductors and electronic components. There he managed communications and consumer research, in addition to leading the research for wireless technologies.  Over a five year period, he built the wireless service into the leading market research practice in the industry.

Scott’s prior roles include product marketing and sales positions at Epson Toyocom, a top crystal and oscillator supplier, and Tektronix, a leading test and measurement equipment supplier.

Scott earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
